Integrated Performance Analysis
Effective Health Management
How does HEALTHSUM work?
HEALTHSUM begins with Consistent, Accurate Data Recording on the farm. The Veterinarian or advisor must work with their clients to create the farm’s treatment protocols and a system of collecting all the information about that treatment (date, cow id, quarter, disease, protocol or drug adiminstered, technician, pen, etc). This data then needs to get regularly entered (daily!) into a farm record system such as Dairycomp, DHI Plus, or PC Dart. The most consistent data is usually created by using “protocols” within these record systems.
Standardized Health Data Protocols can be found at www.goodhealthrecords.com
HEALTHSUM then pulls the farm data into the HEALTHSUM database where it standardizes and stores the records thru a process of labeling and blending data into a consistent format. Then we are able to analyze the herd data thru our unique ability to associate different events and performance data. HEALTHSUM can utilize data from any number of sources including feeding programs, laboratory databases, or customized data capture apps. The monthly data maintenance fee covers this process of data conversion and updating into HEALTHSUM.
Regular Incidence Reports: HEALTHSUM generates Disease Incidence Charts, typically on a monthly basis (with exceptions such as Calfsum) to keep the farm management and advisor updated on changes in disease incidence. These are presented as year over year charts, as well as over time by lactation groups.
Standard Disease Outcomes Assessment Reports: These reports are the investigative assessments of specific diseases and the outcomes of their treatment protocols. They are provided when requested for a specific disease or management intervention the advisor or farm wants to evaluate. These are a by request tool available to answer your burning questions or evaluate farm practices or implemented changes and are invoiced when they are requested.
Certain analyses which are commonly requested and performed are in the list of Standard Reports. Any additional reports can be requested and if they have not been previously created they will be developed and invoiced based on an hourly fee, similar to the Standard Reports, but dependent on the complexity of the evaluation.
